ELIGIBILITY: The Outdoor Photographer The American Landscape 2015 Annual Photo Contest ("Contest") is open only to individuals who have reached the age of majority in their jurisdiction of residence at the time of entry and who do NOT reside in Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan or Syria. Employees of Werner Publishing Corporation, Tamron Inc, MyLO Development, LLC, bookbaby ("Sponsors"), and their respective parents, affiliates, subsidiaries, and advertising and promotion agencies, and their immediate family members (spouse, parent, child and sibling and their respective spouses, regardless of where they reside) and/or those living in same household of each, whether or not related, are not eligible to participate or win. 2015 Mobile Phone Award by SWPO

Today, the World Photography Organisation, alongside Sony Mobile, launches the 2015 Mobile Phone Award. You have until 27th February to submit your best images to the brief:

Touchdown Bromo Mountain

Jogjakarta, kembali ke Kota Pelajar ini setelah terakhir meninggalkan Jogja tahun 2002 dan banyak sekali perubahan yang terjadi diseputaran Jalan Dagen, dimana dulu saya pernah tinggal selama setahun. Tidak ada lagi Cafe Royal Steak yang dulu udah masuk kategori kafe elit nan mahal. Ditemani gerimis malam saya mencoba napak tilas sebentar menyusuri Jalan Malioboro hingga ke depan Pasar Beringharjo, ah dulu saya pernah menjual gitar disana.Saya cuma menginap satu malam di Jogja untuk transit menuju Probolinggo, target jelajah berikutnya adalah Sunrise di Penandjakan, Gunung Bromo. Perjalanan menggunanakan kereta api dari Stasiun Kereta Lempuyangan Jogjakarta ke Probolinggo selama 8 jam, setelah itu cukup bertanya pada sopir angkot dimana travel sunrise penandjakan terdekat. Akhirnya saya beserta isteri diantar ke Bayuangga Travel, lokasinya tak jauh dari Stasiun Kereta. Setelah deal dengan paket menginap di Yoshci's Hotel, tiket melihat sunrise untuk 2 orang dan sewa jeep dan tiket travel dari Probolinggo ke Bali.Semuanya hanya Rp.1juta untuk 2orang. Pemandangan dari Yoschi'c Hotel cukup indah, tepat didepan hotel ada lereng gunung dengan deretan bedeng bawang merah yang rapi diantara pohon cemara.Berikut oleh2 pandangan mata dari Cemoro Lawang dan Penandjakan.Terima kasih.

Menapaki Pesisir Selatan Gunung Kidul : Pantai Jogan

Hari ke 3 trip ke tanah Jawa : berangkat pagi pagi menuju Jogjakarta dengan tujuan Pantai Jogan di Selatan Gunung Kidul. 3 jam perjalanan menyusuri jalan berliku dengan tikungan tajam serta jalan menanjak mengingatkan saya akan perjalanan tahun 1996 ke Sumatera Barat. Arah ke Pantai Jogan ini ternyata berbeda simpang saja dengan Pantai Indrayani, saat bertemu pertigaan terakhir di Gunung Kidul, arah ke kiri menuju Pantai Jogan sedangkan ke kanan menuju Indrayani. Kontur pesisir pantai di Selatan Pulau Jawa ini tidak seperti pesisir pantai di Kepulauan Riau yang berpantai pasir putih dengan barisan pohon kelapa. Disini tersusun dari tebing terjal dan batu karang dengan ombak Laut Selatan yang tinggi dan hembusan angin cukup kencang. Berikut oleh oleh pandangan mata dari Pantai Jogan, Gunung Kidul, Jogjakarta.

Science without Borders® Challenge 2015

This international art competition is open to all students 11-19 years old, with scholarships awarded to the winner and finalists.

We are currently accepting entries to our 2015 Science without Borders® Challenge. Please see the full details for the competition and entry requirements here on our website. The theme for this year’s Challenge is “Reef Relationships.”

Eligibility: This international art competition is open to all students 11-19 years old.

Your Best Shot Photo Contest: January 2015

It’s officiall 2015 and that means it’s time for our first photo contest of the year! Last year, we had more great entries than ever and we’re hoping 2015 can even top that.

There are no category restrictions on this contest, so just pick your best recent work and let it shine. You’re allowed three images per contest, so really make them count and pick your best stuff.

First place gets $300, second place gets $200 and third place gets $100. Submissions have to be received by February 1, at 12:01 AM. A gallery of our favorites will run on PopPhoto.com and top winners will be published in the print edition of Popular Photography.

Faces of Borobudur

Bulan November 2014 saya beserta isteri terbang dari Bandara Hang Nadim Batam ke Jogjakarta, mendarat dengan mulus di Bandara Adi Sucipto, lalu membeli tiket Damri dengan tujuan Candi Borobudur,Magelang sebesar Rp.75K/pax. Harga tiket ini jauh lebih murah dibanding dengan jemputan taksi yang ditawarkan pihak penginapan sebesar Rp.250K ketika saya melakukan pemesanan kamar secara online.
Apa yang bisa diabadikan disini? banyak tentunya. Objek utama adalah Candi Borobudur, detail ukiran dan patung, aktifitas pengunjung candi, etika berkain ungu sebelum memasuki kawasan candi dan lingkungan sekitaran. Pengelola kawasan wisata Candi Borobudur menawarkan pilihan untuk menyaksikan sunrise dan sunset dari Borobudur, tiket seharga Rp.300K adalah harga yang cukup mahal untuk satu kali masuk dipagi hari, saya paham bahwa sunrise dan sunset tidak bisa disetting sesuka hati, cahaya pendar yang indah tergantung dari muncul atau tidaknya sang surya, "so..kalau gak dapat sunrise gimana?", gak usah kecewa, dalam trip sunrise, tiket sudah termasuk sarapan pagi di Restauran Manohara dengan menu secangkir kopi plus kue manis dan roti pelipur lara..hiks! Esoknya saya ke Punthuk Setumbu dengan membawa ranting bambu dan menyewa sepeda motor milik penginapan seharga Rp.75K, menembus dinginnya pagi jam 05:00WIB dan bisikan gerombolan nyamuk, saya harus menapak kaki di Punthuk Setumbu, karena ini merupakan spot wajib lainnya bagi pemburu sunrise, tapi disini tidak ada dahan pohon yang bisa dijadikan framing, sebab itu saya membawanya dari penginapan, dengan membayar tiket masuk Rp.15K, saya menapaki jalan paving kecil menanjak dikelilingi rimbunnya pohon bambu sekitar 10menit. Lokasi untuk melihat sunrise tidak terlalu luas, tapi memiliki panggung untuk pengunjung. Saya memilih berdiri dipagar saja setelah sebelumnya memasang tripod, kabel release, filter Lee GND dan memesan secangkir kopi tanpa gula. Berikut oleh oleh pandangan mata dari Punthuk Setumbu.Terima kasih :)
